History

 

Love That Child” Foundation was registered in Sofia in 1998. It was mainly used for the purpose of awareness of children with disabilities---their challenges, their victories, their spaces in “homes”, “day-care centers” etc. discouraging abandonment, encouraging integration, home-care and especially effective day centers. Virtues classes started in 2005 in Bulgaria.

Six in-depth television programs on the National Bulgarian Television-Channel #1. Each program describing and focusing on a different disability.

International Children's Day concert

 

A concert in theater Dom na Kinoto for International Children’s Day in which the most popular entertainers, such as Pim Pam, participated as well as Kathy Pardew, the then wife of the American Ambassador. Partners: UNHCR and Danone.

Documentary: University of Tolerance

 

A 30 minute Documentary called, “University of Tolerance” was produced about the University of Shoumen for the UNHCR demonstrating complete tolerance and lack of prejudice of minority students and those with disabilities as a model for students in all universities in Bulgaria. Partner: UNHCR.

Conference: Children with Disabilities

 

Organized a conference about children with disabilities in which children as well as their parents participated. A popular group of entertainers, with hearing disabilities, “Jestim” performed. The Conference was held in the American Embassy Cultural Center and had wide-spread media attention.

Cooperation with the American Embassy

 

“Love That Child” was requested by the American Embassy in Bulgaria to assist in their Conference concerning children with disabilities. Discussions were mainly about closing the children’s homes and caring for the children in foster homes and day-care centers

Virtues
 

“Love That Child” became involved in Virtues Education in schools and started teaching children and training teachers and parents.
